Mother’s Day Contest

April 17, 2014

Mother’s Day is quickly approaching and while there are the usual cards and flowers, sometimes it’s nice to add a little something special!

My first child was born on Mother’s Day, so for me it’s always a reminder of the day I realized what unconditional love is. This is truly the greatest of all gifts!

MothersDayMakeoverContest1So if you were to ask a mom what she would really want for Mother’s Day, I am positive many would say simply spending quality time together, creating a memory to cherish!

We want to help you create a memory with your mom, or mother figure, by offering a special Mother’s Day package!

You can simply win by posting a message on our Facebook page (by replying to this post) telling us what your mother means to you, or perhaps a funny story, a favourite memory, or even why you want to win this makeover.

We will choose 3 mothers and daughters as winners!

Prize for each mother/daughter will include:  A Pure Anada Makeover by professional makeup artist Kristen von Riesen & Mini Manicures on Friday, May 9th at Generation Green. While you are having your makeup and nails done, you will also be enjoying some nibblies & refreshments! Each mother & daughter will also receive a gift basket filled with all kinds of “green” delights and gift certificates (detail listing of baskets to follow).

We will announce the winners on Friday, May 2nd.

My mom is my role model for strength and perseverance. She raised my sister and I as a single parent when divorce was a “no-no”. At that time she was supposed to stick it out even if she meant she was unhappy. She made the decision to buck that trend regardless of the consequences and regardless of what people said behind her back.

My sister and I were both Pre-schoolers. She was a stay-at-home mom at the time so had to get a job and learn to drive. She worked hard to keep us in our house and she did it! I can’t imagine how difficult that was but she never let it show. We didn’t go without food, clothes, swimming lessons, camp, birthday parties or Christmas gifts.

My mom is my idol and she deserves to be pampered.

    Thank you.

    Have a good day! Rhonda

My mother was an amazing woman but unfortunately I lost her to cancer at a young age. Therefore, I would share this experience with my daughter. My daughter amazes me with everything she does. She plays sports, coaches badminton, has a part-time job and just completed her first year of university. More important than everything she does, she is a truly kind person who makes me proud to say that I am her Mother.

My mom is the best for many reasons:

    – she’s a single parent who is very loving and caring; always going that extra mile to help my brother, sister and I out with various aspects of our lives (everything from helping type up school projects on a typewriter back in elementary school, to encouraging me to achieve my goal of becoming a Biologist)

    – even though our budget was tight, she promised and eventually took me to Disneyland – surprising me when I was 18 years old with a suitcase at my bedroom door (meeting Mickey Mouse with her was truly priceless)

    – although she’s an accountant, she raised tropical fish as a hobby with me growing up (I went on to complete my degree in Biology). We bred freshwater fish and even had 14 aquariums in our basement – all because I wanted to save the baby fish that were being born

    – she’s a great role model and always taught me to be polite, work hard and give back to the community. She also taught me the importance of helping others in need and having a positive attitude in life. She even helped me nurse some baby birds back to health – ones that were injured were often brought by neighbours to our house, as I was known as the ‘neighbourhood bird whisperer’.

Thanks so much for this opportunity to win. We really appreciate it!

I have to talk about my amazing daughter, Alex. She is 17 and has been a great source of joy in my life! I have two terrific sons as well so I have been very blessed. Alex and i have had a close bond and my husband and I have encouraged her to achieve her goals and believe in her dreams!
My daughter is so hard working and dedicated. She has been a highland dancer since age 6 and now she’s been chosen as youth ambassador for a Folklorama Pavilion… she works hard at school and has been accepted into Faculty Engineering in the fall. She is a cyclist, She’s a leader on the Envirothon team at school, a friend to many, she volunteers at the Museum and works at Toys R Us as well while maintaining an A+ average in high school. She’s an all round amazing person who i am proud to call my daughter! I think she has the potential to affect her world in a very positive way in the future.
I would love to surprise her with a makeover to give her some ideas for her upcoming graduation. And I would love for her to be spoiled for the day!

My Mom’s birthday is May 2nd the day this contest closes, so firstly what a nice surprise that would be to win on her birthday. My Mom is awesome.
My Mom is the anchor that keeps our family grounded. Her creativity and giving spirit always inspired me growing up and helped shape he woman I am today. She fostered in me a spirit of volunteerism and to taught me to share my gifts with others and to see and appreciate the beauty in nature.
My Mom is always there’s to listen and really taught me to see the good in others and that everyone has something to contribute. The most important thing she taught me is that the most important things in life are not things but the relationships you build and nurture.
My Mom always puts others first and to pamper her would be a special treat that I would love to share with her. My Mom really is my heart

My Mama homeschools all 6 of her children. She is loving and kind. She supports our hobbies and volunteers at our events like Girl Guides. We She drives us around so we can serve others and have learnt to value people and relationships over things . When we have an interest she helps us explore it- such as fish keeping and breeding, natural beauty product making, environmental causes, music, baking and cooking. We garden and enter the Junior Horticultural club contest. She helps us plant our gardens, make crafts and bake for 3 days. We make such a mess and she doesnt complain. We enter over 70 entries each year. SHe buys her stuff at the thrift store or does without so we can have our needs met.

Mom means the World to me! She is my rock and I love her dearly! You see my mom supported me throughout my school years and came to every soccer, volleyball, basketball, game and tournament that I participated in. She was also known as “MOM” to many of my high school friends! They loved seeing her at school and at the sporting events! Mom always made sure to look after Grandma and Grandma’s mother too! Mom would take both of them Shopping, out for lunch and spend quality time with them in their back yard. I have grown up with mom sharing all of her time with wonderful people and I see how happy this made my mom. Mom I am so proud of who you are and I love you very much. Thank You Generation Green for allowing me to share how special Mom is to me. Happy Mother’s Day to all of the Mom’s out there!

My mom is the biggest inspiration in my life! Everything she has ever done in her life has been to benefit me and my three sisters. It’s been hard raising three girls, it includes a lot of drama and fighting. However, I think she has done an exceptional job. She raised all three of us with grace, love, and most of all patience! She does everything with never-ending love for us, something I admire very much. My mother was an immigrant from Vietnam along with my father. She has had to work extremely hard her whole life in order to give us the life she was never able to have. She constantly works around the clock as a hairstylist during the day and a nurse at night. Any spare moment she has is spent cooking, cleaning, driving and just sitting and talking with us girls. She has committed her entire life to being a mother, and I couldn’t be prouder of her. I hope that when I am older I can live my life with such strength and compassion as her. I love my mom so much, and she deserves the best every day, not just mother’s day.
