Our November “Maker” being featured is Chef Peter Fehr the creator of Gourmet Inspirations. Chef Peter has created four finishing sauces that offer pairing suggestions for beef, pork and fish, but you’ll find other ways of using them like in salads, for dips and more. These finishing sauces easily take your meal from everyday to Gourmet! Chef Peter also recently launched his delicious “Salted Caramel Whisky Dessert Sauce”. We asked Chef Peter a few questions to help you get to know this maker better.
What inspired you to start making your finishing sauces?
My inspirations to start making sauce came from 2 places. One was my chef instructor who specialized in and was passionate about sauces which inspired me to make sauces! The other inspiration came from a rancher in Texas who was a guest at a former workplace of mine (5 star fly-in fishing resort in Northern MB). I created a creamy peppercorn whiskey sauce from scratch for a steak dinner at the resort and this guest strongly encouraged me to “put that in a bottle and sell it”!
Which flavor is your personal favourite?
My new favourite flavor is my newest sauce. The SALTED CARAMEL WHISKEY DESSERT SAUCE. Great for drizzling on cakes, crisps, apple pie, brownies, waffles, crepes, pancakes or your coffee!
What’s your favourite way to use your product?
DRIZZLE. DRIZZLE. DRIZZLE. Add’s a nice gourmet finishing touch to whatever you’re preparing. From steak to roasted chicken to salads and desserts!
Why should someone buy Gourmet Inspirations products?
Because they’e awesome! 😉
The ingredients are ones you can pronounce and the sauce has no “nasty preservatives” added!
What was the biggest challenge you faced in developing your product?
Keeping costs at a point where customers are still willing to purchase product. Costs on gourmet quality ingredients is high. Therefore the store price is high. We as developers truly appreciate the support of our customers buying local, gourmet, high quality food products!
What’s your favourite thing about Manitoba?
The distinct 4 seasons. I love the anticipation that comes with every changing season. I love that I can go swimming in the summer and cross country skiing in the winter!
