Our newly opened Acorn Cafe is stocking black and green tea from Amsterdam Tea Room, our (currently under-construction) district neighbours! We decided to make them our feature maker this month, so you can know more about why they were an easy choice for us when it came to sourcing tea.
Amsterdam Tea Room has been open in the Exchange at 103-211 Bannatyne Ave for a few years but have temporarily closed their doors to re-vamp into a tea/cocktail room! We can’t wait to check it out on one of our team building nights, but in the mean time (and always) come grab a sip from Acorn Cafe!
What inspired Amsterdam Tea and Amsterdam Tea Room?
We wanted to create a unique space inspired by Europe’s Tea Rooms. We hope to provide a great social environment to meet loved ones and friends (old and new) complimenting the experience with memorable food and drinks.
Which tea is your personal favourite?
It has to be Lapsang Souchong which is a black tea smoked with pine needles. We have even worked the tea into our house old fashioned cocktail.
What is unique about Amsterdam Tea?
As much as we can, we source fair trade and we make sure there are no chemicals used in the production of our teas. As well as sourcing teas from countries such as India, China, Kenya and Nepal, we also source teas that are local and blended here in Winnipeg.
What is the biggest challenge you’ve faced in development of your business?
Achieving our ambitious vision within a very tight budget. Working within these parameters though has resulted in a space with soul and character and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
