- They are reusable. And the seal on the top of the pouch is strong, and doesn’t become less effective over time.
- They never stink. From time to time I have left a pouch in my purse, Nolan’s bag, car, etc. with little bits of leftover food and it never held onto the smell.
- They are dishwasher safe. Although I prefer to wash them in hot soapy water, and rinse them under the tap.
- They keep your baby or child happy and quiet. If Nolan is fussy, he immediately calms down holding his green pouch. He associates the pouch with something delicious inside, and gets excited when I give him one. We recently traveled to Spain, and these pouches came in handy on the plane, train, his stroller, everywhere! I also use them at home every single day.
- And of course, no nasty chemicals are used in creating the pouches or tops.
- The accessories from the company are a little disappointing in my opinion. Unnecessary baby stuff is wasteful to your wallet, and the environment. Stick to the pouches, and add the ChooMee Sip’in tops. In my opinion, you can’t have one without the other!
Savannah’s Pick – Di’Erbe Peppermint Essential Oil
The other week I came down with a brutal cold and congestion. Thank goodness I had a bottle of peppermint essential oil lying around cause it was my best friend.
Peppermint has tons of health benefits and is really good for pain relief (headaches, muscles), but what really helped me out was the sinus relief. I was spraying it, diffusing it, and constantly inhaling it. Honestly nothing cleared up my sinuses like it. It was such a relief to take a deep breath when I had my peppermint oil around. My favorite was to drop it on a tissue and then dab it under my nose so I could keep breathing it in. It was serious relief!
Peppermint essential oil is also good for increasing concentration and alertness, as well as for nausea and motion sickness.
Note: Do not use peppermint oil during pregnancy
Sherry’s Pick – Joy of the Mountains Oil of Oregano
As Savannah mentioned, there definitely has been some kind of virus whirling around Winnipeg! Everyone is either complaining of a sore throat, head cold, congestion, cough or all of the above! My tried and true recommendation is Oil of Oregano. Everyone seriously needs to have this as a staple in their med cabinet.
Joy of the Mountains is my trusted source, (one of the first Canadian brands). They offer quality assurances and rigorous batch testing in order to offer a product that is 4x more effective than other brands. Oil of oregano is great for digestive, respiratory and immune support just to name a few.
For those of you that have never heard of or used oil of oregano, it is a must have herbal remedy! Oil of oregano has powerful antimicrobial benefits that can help fight off infections, and offers antibacterial, antiviral, and anti-fungal properties. A few drops under your tongue a couple of times a day (warning it does taste awful), or you can dilute in juice. If neither of those appeal to you, they now offer vegetarian oil filled capsules. In addition to the oil of oregano, Joy of the Mountains also has a great line just for pets called OregaPet.
Dallas’s Pick – Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap
For this month, I picked another magical multi-use product that I just can’t get enough of. Certified Fair trade and now refillable here at Generation Green, Dr. Bronner’s liquid castile soap is one of absolute favorites. I use mine for hand soap, dish soap, and sometimes….when I’m feeling real lazy I’ll bring it into the shower and wash my hair and body with it. But the magic doesn’t stop there! Use it as a face wash, laundry soap, fruit/veggie rinse, baby wash, or even shaving cream!
Try it out for yourself by purchasing a brand spanking new bottle in store or bring an empty container you have lying around and we’ll fill it up with your favorite scent (available in unscented, peppermint, lavender, and citrus in bulk) at $1/ounce.
Ana’s Pick – Watuko Headgear
Now that the school year is well underway, I don’t ever (and I mean NEVER) take the time to do my hair in the morning. Soooo it seems appropriate for me to choose Watuko Headgear as my pick this month! This multifunctional headwear is more often than not my solution to a bad hair day.The company was established in 2011 and all designing and manufacturing is done in Canada– yay! Their vision also includes working exclusively with companies of integrity and companies who uphold the responsibilities of social wellness for their employees- double yay! By using bamboo for their products, they have created something that is comparable to the softness of silk (since bamboo fibers are naturally smoother and rounder with no sharp spurs to irritate the skin). This makes the fabric hypoallergenic and perfect for anyone who experience allergic reactions to other natural fibers such as wool or hemp.
Bamboo is also antibacterial and antifungal and extremely breathable. The cross-section of the bamboo fiber is covered with micro-gaps giving the fabric better moisture absorption and ventilation. As a result, it is able to keep the wearer almost two degrees cooler in the heat and noticeably warmer in the cold. This makes the headgear great for all season wear! These headbands can be worn for style points, exercising in and outdoors, or just for comfort. Bamboo is also the most renewable resource on our planet yayayayya!
Lots of people ask about how to wash their Watuko headgear: they can be washed with nearly everything. However, for the best maintenance treat them as special garments. This means using the gentle cycle, cold or luke warm water, and line drying is preferred. Machine drying may cause the garment to lose its shape or slightly shrink in size. Come by Generation Green to check out the many colours and patterns we have in stock!
